Can You Still Buy a Replacement Battery for the Dremel 7700?

The original replacement battery for the Dremel 7700 is the 7.2-volt 757-01 Ni-Cd pack. Genuine replacements can be hard to find. Lowe’s lists its original 757-01 as no longer sold there. That does not prove that every seller is out of stock, but it’s a reason to check carefully before spending money.

This guide follows my Dremel 7700 dog-nail ownership story. My tool was ruined after I left it outside; that experience is not a battery-failure test.

Why a matching voltage isn’t enough

The 7700 has a removable battery, but not every 7.2V pack is a replacement. Physical shape, contacts, battery chemistry and the charger all have to match. A listing that says “replaces 757-01” is a seller’s claim, not independent proof that it will work safely with your exact tool and charger.

Check the model numbers on your tool, battery and charger. Ask for written compatibility information covering all three, and check the return policy. A pack that slides into the tool can still be wrong for the charger.

Don’t modify contacts, rebuild a pack or improvise a charger to make a replacement work. Stop using a battery that leaks, is damaged or becomes unusually hot. Follow local rechargeable-battery recycling guidance for an old Ni-Cd pack.

Can you still buy an original 757-01?

You may encounter old stock, used packs and aftermarket replacements. An old listing doesn’t establish current availability, and an unused old battery is still an old battery. Confirm what is actually being sold, its condition and the seller’s return terms before paying.

No aftermarket battery is recommended here because exact tool-and-charger compatibility has not been independently verified.

When replacing the tool makes more sense

Compare the complete cost of a trustworthy battery solution with a new tool. If the tool or charger is also failing, or the only replacement pack has uncertain compatibility, putting more money into the old setup may not be worthwhile.

If your existing battery still holds enough charge for the job and is in good condition, there’s no reason to replace a working tool simply because newer models exist.

For dog nails, the rechargeable Dremel 7350-PET is a current replacement-tool option with a single 12,000 RPM speed. Check the Dremel 7350-PET kit on Amazon #ad. It replaces the whole tool; its battery is not a replacement for the 757-01.

Keeping the 7700? Read which speed to use for dog nails. Low, 10,000 RPM, is the setting that fits Dremel’s current pet-grooming guidance.

Sources and model checks

Dremel’s tool FAQ identifies the 7700’s 7.2V Ni-Cd system. Lowe’s historical product record identifies model 757-01 and says it is no longer sold there. Check your own labels and manufacturer instructions before choosing any replacement.
